Mark Zuckerberg warned investors three months ago that Facebook’s expenses were going to rise sharply.
The company reported on Wednesday that revenue increased 49 percent in the fourth quarter compared to the previous year, exceeding Wall Street’s expectations. But expenses rose even faster, up 87 percent from the same quarter a year ago, driven in part by a huge increase in stock payouts to employees.
The social network, which makes most of its money by including advertising in the news feeds of its users, said about 69 percent of its advertising revenue came from mobile devices, which have become the most common way people tap into the service. Facebook reported that it had 1.39 billion monthly users worldwide in December, up 3.2 percent from September.

WhatsApp banned them for 24 hours because they violated the app's 'terms of service' by using a third-party client.
Some users are reporting WhatsApp banned them for 24 hours because they violated the app's 'terms of service' by using a third-party client.
Users are reporting about the ban via different social networks (Facebook, Google+ and Twitter) revealing that the ban is only for those Android users who are using the popular third-party client WhatsApp+ or WhatsApp Plus.
The company is now asking users to uninstall WhatsApp+ and install an authorised version of WhatsApp from official website or Google Play to reuse the service, although the 24-hour ban period will reportedly remain in effect for the full duration despite replacing or uninstalling the app.

Facebook has stopped including results from Microsoft’s Bing search engine on its social networking site.
Searches on Facebook have long been geared towards helping users connect with friends and to find other information that exists within the walls of the 1.35 billion-user social networking service. But for years, Facebook’s search results also included links to standalone websites that were provided by Bing.

Facebook's most requested button might become a reality in the near future.Facebook is thinking about introducing a dislike button.
The dislike button is Facebook's most requested feature, according to Zuckerberg — and people's desire to get one has led to plenty of fake, viral posts on the network about how to get one.
"One of things we've thought about for quite a while is what's the right way to make it so that people can easily express a broader range of emotions," Zuckerberg said.
