“Birdman” has beaten “Boyhood” for so many of the top prizes given by the groups that represent individual filmmaking professions, including the Screen Actors Guild, Directors Guild of America and Producers Guild of America.
“Birdman,” many agree, is the more impressive filmmaking achievement, with stronger performances by a cast including Michael Keaton, Edward Norton and Emma Stone (all nominated for acting prizes), a musical score performed at times on-screen, and editing and photography that make the entire two-hour movie appear to be one continuous shot.
